I backed up a copy of "sweet home alabama" last night to a memorex dvd+R. It played fine in my Phillips player, but would play in my Cyberhome player. Both are listed as +R compatible, so it must be the brand of DVD+R, I guess. Opinions...............

It could be many things, but I would not automatically assume that it's the media. I've (and many others in the forums)used Memorex +R media on many backups and have never had any issues at all. You'll hear folks trash Memorex, but it's mostly the -R media that isn't reliable. The +R is typically good stuff made by Ricoh.

It could be that even tho the player sez it's compatible....it may not be. My $300 sony sez it'll play alot of stuff that it flat out refuses to play. It could be your technique. If u made the VIDEO_TS folder inlower case....if u burned a VIDEO_TS folder into another VIDEO_TS folder.....if u left out some file.....your burner might not burn well over 1x....your copy may be dirty....it goes on and on.

There is no problem so big, that a brick placed against the proper skull cannot fix =)

I've tried 2 backups (From Hell and Event Horizon) with Memorex 4x DVD+R and neither disc will be recognized in my Philips DVD724, PS2 or Apex AD-600A (I get no disc errors). I've read that all three of the above players read +r/rw's without a problem.

Funny thing is that my burner (LG 4040B) won't recognize any data on the disk either! I popped the backup into the drive and fired up DVDShrink and it said that there was no disc in the drive.

I've used no name cheap media that works pretty much flawlessly in the PS2 (about 22 discs) but wanted to use +r's so I could use them in my other DVD players.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas?

Im using:
a) LG 4040B writer
b) Win XP Pro
c) DVDShrink 3.1.3 (full backup with DVD Rom book and +r compatibility options checked under Burn options)
d) Nero 6

Thanks for any help! Cheers!
