About the newest firmware for the R4 DS.... can anyone help?

Hi there, I am totally new in this forum. I've started getting some bugs and minor freezes during gameplay so I decided to upgrade the R4 firmware to English version v.1.18. ('Why not, mine is a low version' was my thought.) However, when I "upgraded", it just seems to be in frozen in error. There are chinese characters and the mentionable !!! on the bottom screen.

I've read through all the threads considering other people's problems and have tried formatting the card, tried different versions and so forth. As you can see, I'm still having problems. I have no idea what's going on. Can anyone help?

Is it a real or a fake.

The reason i ask is there are fakes going around right now that look and run like the original but when you try to upgrade them they fail or just won't boot at all.

So do you have a backup of the original system if so restore it to the device and see if it works if it does if it does most likely you have a fake and not a real one this is where you may be in trouble.

Did it originally come with Chinese firmware? If so you need to update with Chinese - you cant simply flip over to English.

download the Tchinese firmware and try it

either from http://www.r4ds.com/download.htm if you can read chinese than go here and download tchinese http://www.r4ds-forums.com/rf/r4-v1-18-kernel-t1136.html

load that into your r4 instead of english firmware than reply back how you went with it.

No, I don't think it was Chinese firmware at all. When I first bought it, the firmware already on it was the English version. But I'll try the TChinese firmware. I hope it works.

Wow, thanks a lot guys! It worked! You guys had no idea how much problems I had with this! I searched google and everything else but I wasn't too lucky... but I knew afterdawn.com could help me! (now to find a way to convert it to english...)
