I have downloaded several movies and would like to know which is the best program to use to convert them to dvd format to play in a standard dvd player. I have used Cucusoft mpeg/avi to dvd before but I am wondering if there is a better program to obtain better quality etc?
to obtain better quality you need to start with a quality video file. You can't possibly start with a low quality file and assume that a program will make it better quality! It won't! A Converter will not make the file better quality than it already is. But it will convert the file to a different format! And there are some programs better at it than others. I use ConvertXToDVD. Some use Nero Vission. pick your choice.
Thanks for you reply. I know I won't be able to improve the quality of the file but I would like to maintain the quality when converting it to dvd. Some films I have converted to dvd seem to be of lower quality than the original avi.

I have a problem. I have 4 episodes of a show in AVI format that I need to burn to DVD with a Simple episode selection Menu. I used ConvertXtoDVD and the files output were indistinguishable in terms of Quality, but they were all screwed up Ratio wise. The original files were widescreenHD rips, and the output files from ConvertX to DVD had a good INCH of screen on both the left and right sides cropped. Why would it do this?
