Hi, I am trying to rip a DVD9, and burn it onto another DVD9 disc, I have tried several programmes, however not had any luck getting it to work.
Does anyone know of any programmes which I could use to do this!?

Thanks

A burn log would be helpful.

Also, having a look at the links in my sig may help too. You see Decrypter is a bit outdated, but there's a freeware version of DvdFab Hd Decrypter (available not only in the links in my sig, but also in Dialysis' sig as well) then use Shrink as normal.

Or one could add Imgburn as the burning engine. In order for Shrink to autoburn you'll need a slightly different version of Dvd Shrink. Available here:

Thanks very much, I will give them a go.

Do i want to decrypt it as an "iso" or "file" ?

I have got the iso file already but it just won't burn, I keep getting these error messages. I wasn't sure if it had anything to do with it being a dvd9 discs.

The discs are called "Mirror" - I don't know if they are any good or not, they are the only ones I found in a shop...

The only reliable DL media is Verbatim +R 2.4X made in Singapore.
You can buy them online.

99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

ok, so you think if I buy these it should solve my problems?

From what I have seen online, I am doing everything right and putting, the layer break in the right place and everything, but then as burning starts, it starts to "lead in" but then errors.

Thanks very much for your time and help
Greatly appreciated.

@browno

Edit your log post and remove your serial key!

And the recommended method for burning DL is using Verbatim blank media as suggested by Dialysis, and Imgburn.

just to let you know...... your burner is very old..... and it probably will have a hard time to burn to the newer media... trying to burn to the new DL disks might be a big problem since your drive is just a 4x DVD burner! and burns to the original DL disks!! unless you have up-to-date firmware that MIGHT recognize the newer media you might not be able to burn at all! Here is your drive:

you have Roxio on your computer that might interfere with Nero burning..... uninstall Roxio!

Start by uninstalling Roxio.

Then try for a firmware update.

First off, what brand is your laptop?

From what I've found you have the Toshiba dvd burner which is also a HD-dvd reader. You can try here for a firmware update. If your laptop is an Hewlett Packard, choose the 2nd one. IF YOU LAPTOP BRAND ISN'T LISTED, DON'T UPDATE!
These firmwares are brand specific and you could loose the use of your drive it you choose the wrong one.

From my experience, burning DVD9s on an internal laptop burner is a crapshoot at best. I guess it has something to do with available power, etc. Always be plugged in to a/c when burning.

I use ImgBurn, a free program, to burn all my DVD9s. DVD Decrypter with shrink is old and no longer supported and I don't know what engine it uses to burn.

Your "Mirror" discs have a MID of RICOHJPN D01-067 which is of the new method of manufacture. That MID is ok as long as it is authorized by ricoh, not the greatest, but not the worst. But your drive has to "like" them inorder to burn them well.

If the manufacture isn't authorized by Ricoh it's considered "fake" media and then all bets are off. The stuff could be total garbage, one disc burn well while the next junk, etc.

You can try ImgBurn without uninstalling Roxio. But if you use Nero to burn other discs, roxio will still conflict with Nero.

Ok thanks very much. Yes it is a Hewlett Packard laptop, with a Toshiba drive which is an HD DVD Rom. I will have a look for an update.

I always keep the battery out and the power plug in when i am using it at home, I am going to look at getting the verbatim discs as recomended and see how they do.

I have just been using dvd decrypter and shrink to use my dvds because i have always used dvd5's and that has done the job just great. However I have just started looking into dvd9's for a higher quality dvd. And i now have imgburn.

Once again, thanks very much for your time.
