I have an older ECS 915p-a (v1.1) socket 775 motherboard and i am pretty sure its on its way out and even if it isn't i want to upgrade. The problem is, that i have Pentium 4 processor 3.20ghz . Its been awhile since i last built and i would like to know how do i find out or if it matters what type processor it is example if it is a celeron or something differnt. newer motherboards says it supports dual core, and extreme etc..so these newer boards, do they support older processors?

ddr ram is not pin compatible to ddr2 which is probably not pin compatible to ddr3.

tried to install ram and system kept having booting problems. so reinstalled old ram and reset cmos. I think my mother board is on its downward spiral. so i am just going to wait and save for new one.
