Hey there AD!

I've been doing a lot of reading, and you can almost say i've had a massive influx of information, and was kind of hoping to have a fresh look into it. There's just so many programs and so many methods, and i'm not sure where exactly to start.

All i wish to do is rip my DVD's, and then shrink (compress) them to the smallest size possible, but still look very good on a 19'' monitor. (i've seen files compressed to a 700 MB size and still look great).

Like iluvendo said, those 700mb files are probably .AVI files. If you want DVD compliant files that will play in most DVD players then you need to rip and compress so use DVDFab HD Decrypter and Shrink... follow the guides above! good luck and happy burning.
