P2P Posse works right out of the gate. Alliance is a work in progress. P2P Posse has SSL automatically enabled and working where Alliance does not. P2P Posse can see 200 users within 30 seconds of startup. Alliance has to converge and can take over an hour. Alliance uses Java which is a resource hog. P2P Posse is compiled in native machine code and does not require a cumbersome runtime library. P2P Posse host can run as a system service. Alliance has a config file that lists everyones IP address on the network (major security flaw). Only the P2P Posse host is connected to everyone. Alliance users find it difficult to set up and get running. P2P Posse sets up in under a minute. The end users need only enter a nickname, username and password.
It's a different program. P2P Posse is geared toward the person who wants a private secure P2P network and does not want to spend hours trying to configure it and then spend days trying to explain configuration to newbie users.
Just the fact that your username is p2pposse just goes to show your peddling this crap. Now for the rebuttal...
1)Alliance is not complex. Upon setup your give your client a name so other people know who you are. Inviting someone to join your group is completely automated. You provide the email address for the user you wish to join and a invitation email is sent to them, easy as that.
2)As far as protection/encryption goes Alliances setup is twofold. First the program (i assume P2PPosse does the same) uses the friend invite network setup. Were only people you trust/invite are allowed to browse your shared files. And then it steps things up by connecting you and your "trusted peers" by using a simple encryption algorithim. But why a "simple" algorithim and not a robust complex one such as AES or TwoFish? Simply put it takes up a lot of resources and will bog down the connection speed, this is true for any encrypted service. And 2ndly a simply encryption algorithim is enough to deter 99% of malicious people. (remember to date even the mpaa/riaa hasn't bothered to break encrypted p2p streams) But for the paranoid or to be sure the other 1% of malicious users don't break into your p2p downloads Alliance offers full AES encryption channeled over a SSL connection, that right there is security. And it flat out blows p2p posse and any other similar app out of the water in terms of security.

4) Yes java is a resource hog. But why leave the app running 24/7 if your not downloading? Then the program becomes a CPU cycle hog.
5)Why run a P2P as a system service? Done that way it would mean that the program is always running wether or not you or someone else is downloading anything. It becomes a waste of your machines cpu cycles and overall resources.

I'm calling bullshit again. Any P2P app you use to connect and download content from any other person, is going to have to give your address to the person your downloading from. Thats P2P/networking 101, you connected to a client means client has your IP address for the duration of the connection.

And I reported you for self-advertising which is against the AD forum rules. I would have done it and not even bothered posting anything originally but I wanted to see what your argument would be for P2P posse being a better client.
