my current rig is p4 3,0ghz
radeon9800
1500ddr3200
abitsg72
basicly it kills it self 10 mins in to games like crysis and forces me to turn it off on power so its time for a rebuld new case new memry, new graphics new processor new bosrd
i am keeping the dvd drive, 160gb hard drive already have good moniter etc
please get me a list budget 400 450 max pounds uk

are you keeping the case? is the psu going to be reused? how many watts does the psu put out? is the harddrive ide or sata? and are you able to buy from a site such as newegg.com? if not what site will you be buying parts from?

Hard drive is ide. power surply is 500wat but woukld concider new one
and new case is required

You will not just consider a new PSU, you will buy one - you don't want to risk that equipment with a potentially old and dodgy PSU. You don't need more watts, but a strong, new unit.
Here's a basic parts list:
Core 2 Duo E2200
Gigabyte EP35-DS3R Board
2x2GB Corsair XMS2 800mhz RAM
ATI Radeon HD4850
Corsair HX 520W
What case do you have? You may well need to change that for cooling purposes, and you will probably have to reinstall windows too.
The above list comes to a little under 400 pounds from http://www.scan.co.uk
With a case included it'll be around £450. I recommend using an NZXT Tempest case from http://www.ebuyer.com - free delivery is available from them for that.

I havent paid attention to the market for about 3 years so dont know what all latest procesers are waht all the dule core an quad cores are and mean

Dual Cores are currently goign to offer the most speed per core as more apps are written to take advantage of 2 cores than 4. But if you have the money a quad core machine is the way to go as they can match/perform similarly to any dual core and will have a longer usable life than a dual core. But there is a price difference.

If possible I would switch the harddrive from a samsung to a seagate as seagate has a 5 year warranty which is very nice :). Maybe a slightly faster CPU, and make sure that that PSU can power the graphics card. Other than those few minor things its a pretty solid build.

that PSU is over kill for the needs. the CPU wiull clock at atleast 3GHz on that mobo and HSF. and i choose the F1 drives as they are the quickest around.

Yeah I wasn't sure of the power requirements of the videocard.

Because by dvd burnere is 1 off them to burn 360 games games ?
also my old processer is 3ghz so what am i gaining speed wise

it has one IDE port for you to use.
this CPU will overclock to 3GHz, and is a core 2 duo. id say even at 2.2GHz it would take a 4GHz P4 to match up to it. over clock it to 3 and it will be about double the speed of your old one.

sam has had soem problems with overclockers, btu since they have been in the new management they have been superb. i on the other hand have ordered nearly 30 sepereate ocasions from there in the past year, and yet am to have one problem with them (ok i had one, but they refunded my DOA mobo within the week)
TBH for me they have been nothing but golden, as have their courior city link (which is the same used by scan and ebuyer)

The new management is when it all went wrong for me. All I say is be careful. If you're sticking to a deadline, OcUK are not the shop to use, however pretty much all of them will get the job done eventually. You just have to work harder with some than others. The cheapest stores typically have the worst customer service, OcUK and MicroDirect are the prime offenders. Scan and ebuyer have had their own issues, but Scan's have been relatively slight. Ebuyer used to be pretty poor but have certainly cleaned up their act in the last couple of years. Me and my friends have had 2 successful (i.e. smooth problemless) orders out of 7 with overclockers, 10 out of 12 with Ebuyer, 14 out of 15 with Aria and 5 out of 6 with scan.

OcUK>aria/ebuyer>scan.
esp after the new scan site, tis loojks horrible IMO.
for me overclockers 29/30 perfect, and the one not was refunded withhin the week.

I agree with you up until Scan changed their website. Now I'd place it Ocuk first, Scan 2nd, Aria 3rd, Ebuyer 4th. Aria's search is good, but navigating manually is slow and tedious. Ebuyer is just a vast mess, with a mediocre search, Scan is overcomplex, but easy when you learn it. OcUK's one saving grace is a superb website - did you ever use it before the redesign a couple of years ago? It was awful back then, very basic and poor, but at the same time back then, OcUK were a company I trusted to the ends....
