I have an ASUS M2N4-SLI Motherboard. I have 2x512 of Mushkin 533Mhz dd2 4-4-4-15 memory. I tried to upgrade to 2x1gb sticks of G.Skill PC6400 CL5-5-5-15 1.8v-2.0v memory.

That didn't work, so I just kept them and put back in the old sticks. I would get the 1 long beep followed by two short beeps, which, with ASUS boards, means it's a memory issue, and not a video issue like most boards.

Then I got OZC Platinum2 PC26400 4-4-4 @2.1v 2x1gb. I contacted OCZ, and they said all I would have to do is change the voltage settings to 2.1. I had remembered seeing that in the BIOS, so I thought that would be fairly easy. Heh.

My BIOS only allows to 1.95v. I tried setting it to that. I tried changing the DRAM setting to be DDR2800. I tried doing both. No dice, same error code.

How and what do I change/tweak to get these sticks running? I have gone through the manual, and it doesn't really specify what to change. I'm not too concerned about OC or heat, I have a shop blower pointed at my board that keeps it pretty cool.

Any and all help is always greatly appreciated.

Out of curiosity, how are you getting into the BIOS to change settings if you're getting POST error beeps?

I'm using the Mushkin. That's the only way at the moment. Any changes I make won't let the Mushkin run, so I have to reset it by jumper.

You say any changes, what sort of changes have you made?

I change the Overclock profile manual, then I change the DDR2 voltage to 1.95 (the highest it can go), and then none of my memory works. Or I'll change the memory clock frequency to DDR2 800, and again, nothing. Or I'll change both, and, well, you get the idea. Beyond that, I'm kind of at a loss.

Should I move this thread to the Overclocking area? I wasn't really sure since I'm adding in new stuff, but I'm having to overclock.

The OCZ should post as 1.8v. To date, I have NEVER needed to increase voltage in the BIOS before putting in RAM. They should atleast boot up at the default 1.8v, if not at their overclocked speeds(800Mhz isn't even OCed).

I HAVE, on the other hand, had SIX sticks of OCZ Platinums fail. So maybe that's it.

Crap.

...Even with the G.Skill, you think something would happen...

Well the Mushkin works, doesn't it?

Have you tried just booting up with one stick?

Yeah the Mushkin works, it's just a lot less than what I had wanted...

But, everyone thats been so helpful can go ahead and just heap shame upon my head like burning ashes...

I left the Mushkin in, just 'cause I wanted something running. So I decided to do what I should have done in the first place. I just stuck the OCZ in with the Mushkin. Thats whats running right now. And it works.

>.<

Thanks every one!
