i currently have a 2.6 ghz dual core amd ax2, i just got a new 3.2 ghz dual core amd, i have switche over it expect for one thing, when i turn on my pc with the 3.2 chip it comes up and says no drives istalled and ask me to put in the windows install disc, but as soon as i put back in the 2.6 chip in it boots up just fine, when i go into the bios with the 3.2 chip is says unknown amd chip, how do i solve this problem?

Does your motherboard officially support the 3.2Ghz chip?

i got it up and running, but when i go into system properties, it says unknown amd processor, could this be fixed by a bios upgrade

the bios updated fixed my chip problem, now i have a second problem, when i start up my pc now it says boot disk failure insert system disk, i put the windows vista disk in and it boots just fine, Why do i have to leave that disk in, do something get wacked when i changed out my chip?

check in the bios to see if your hard drive is seen & is the 1st boot drive not behind the rom drive.

Just a thought, have you been into the BIOS to check that your boot devices are in the right order? The hard disk with windows on it should be first in that list. Changing a CPU could have reset the settings to something else.
