I have just finished the hardware installation of my first computer build, but that glory was short lived as it seems I cannot access the bios of my computer. The keyboards I have tried do not work to access the BIOS. I have used a PS/2 and a usb keyboard, and both are unresponsive to any keyboard strokes except Ctrl+Alt+Del. The keyboard does recieve power because it blinks the lights when I hit the power button on my computer tower.
I was doing research and was told that the problem could be with the RAMS voltage (mine is 1.9v). The only problem with this is I have no other ram that will fit in the slots in my computer.
I was sae that the bracket I used to install my cpu fan could be shorting out the PS/2 port, but I think if I can press Ctrl+Alt+Del then that is not the case.

I have cleared the COMOS by taking the battery out for a few minutes. In fact I just decided to replace the original battery with a fresh one.
I have also realized that I can enter the post screen. When I enter this screen The display shows that it recognizes both of my HDD's, but it stalls when it says "Detecting IDE drives ..."
Lastly I figured out that the computer freezes when I hit the DEL key to enter the BIOS set-up, because I can normally enter the Post Screen or restart using Ctrl+Alt+DEL, but when I try to enter the BIOS setup I cannot do either.
I also would like to say that all of you have done wonders, and that I could not have built my first computer if it was not for you people.
If your PC hangs when you plug in an IDE drive, check it's being powered correctly. An unpowered IDE drive that's plugged into the motherboard WILL prevent a PC from booting. You may also want to try replacing the cable.
