We don't change layout just because "we can", but instead, there has to be a solid reason behind the change. The next layout will adopt to these changes:

1) 100% XHTML -compliancy

2) Each site section (forums, news, software, product comparison, etc) will be designed on its own rules, meaning that the current "harmonized layout across the site" will (partially) be a thing in the past.

3) Usability. We hope to have enough resources in near future to put each section through a usability testing to get the user experience to the level it should be.

4) "Findability". We have almost three million forum posts, 10,000+ news articles, hundreds of in-depth guides, almost 10,000 product specs, 1,500+ software items, etc on our site. Reorganizing all that in a way that a user who arrives to our site for the first time, can find the content he/she is looking for, is our main challenge.

So, instead of "making it look k00l", our goals are somewhat different with the next layout change.
