I've downloaded some cd's ripped into seperate FLAC files, but they all lack a cuesheet.

If I simply select these files and burn them files as a cd (with CDBurnerXP), I get a very slight but audible 'crack' in between the tracks that are designed to flow into eachother.

I've found a cuesheet for most of the albums, but these are designed for one big file with all the tracks in it, and so they seem useless.

For some of the cd's, I have a TOC with data on the exact length of the tracks. Does it make sense to attempt to create a cuesheet manually based on this information?

Do I even need a cuesheet? Or is there a way to correctly burn these files to ensure a crackless/gapless cd?

Many thanks in advance!

Try image burn or media monkey. They have shareware versions that seem to do allright. I never used CDBurnerXP but I have heard plenty of complaints and no 'at a boys'. You would be making an audio CD, right?

OK.. here we go.. the "crack" is most likely because you are burning in TAO (track at once) mode whereas you need to burn in DAO (disk at once) to do the whole burn in one go ;)

Also, the default for most audio burning is to insert
a pause of 2 seconds between tracks. The first track should
have this, a part of the standard. However, on subsequent
tracks it's optional. On Nero Burning ROM, the two second gap
can be removed by setting the track properties in the
compilation window. This may be relevant if the the tracks
should "flow into each other"
I would have thought Imgburn would have this, but I'm not sure.
Once all this is done, burn it DAO as Varnull suggested.

Hi dave.. stock reply I'm afraid.. that's the normal reason for a "bang" between tracks.. back since 95 days (when M$ knew how to make a half decent os and we abused nero2)

Maybe dbpoweramp (they should pay me some commission the number of times I plug them!!) would do a better job of burning these flac files? (I dunno.. I use k3b for my burning needs these days along with lots of other stuff XD)
I do a lot of EAC .flac from vinyl (check on noid or the bay) and burn with no 2 second gap..not even after the first track.. k3b can do that, as can a lot of good burning softwares.. xpcd (or whatever it is) isn't a good burning proggie from what I have seen.. more like a packet writer for backups and the odd saves..

Quality burning software pays for itself.. the free ones are even better unless you want to make glass masters for pressing.. then you need to pay.
