Is This A Good Gaming Rig? Pro's Advice

hello i am a noob at selecting good pc parts as this is my first rig i need some advice
The rig is going to be for gaming and other light things such as internet ect my budget is arround $1500 usd and i have chosen my parts on newegg i also want my rig to be able to play the latest games on high settings
i am planing to tri boot my pc with vista ubuntu & windows xp"pro" i will use xp pro as defualt os
i am also planning to o/c my cpu and graphics card
i need a pro or someone who knows what they are talking about to segust parts to me here is the link to my parts i have chosen

I need a good segustion on a graphics card and power supply and if there is anything you think i should change just say

yea i was using a website to work out how much power i will need still not sure,the mobo i have chose i am going to keep as it has lots of functions and i will be able to up grade parts rather than having to redo my whole Rig again for the graphics card is there any card that you know is you favorite or one that you can segust thanks for replying.

You can do way better than your wishlist.
Replace the CPU with either a Q9450 or a Q6600(the Q6600 is cheaper. See which one you can afford)
Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R(Or if you want more future proof, a GA-X48-DS4. This motherboard can take TWO video cards)
ATI Radeon 4850
Oh and get this ram instead.

Oh and buy.com had good deals on PSU's. I would get a 550vx or 650TX if you plan on getting a second video card later on.

you still think i should go for a intel over amd cpu as amd cpu'z are cheaper but you cant o/c :(

lol You CAN OC, just not as much.
Yes, the Intel CPUs offer much better performance ATM.

I would not do SLI.... i would use the money to get the best possible video card. and if somehow your able to fit a second card of the same type into your budget than I would do that.
As for the motherboard the only reason I suggested a change is because I dont think that motherboard uses the most stable chipset. Some of the gigabyte and asus boards offer the same features, but with a more stable (but still powerful) intel chipset.

hi thanks for the reply just got a few more questions on the Gpu
ther is a person who says the cards can not play crysis on full settings!
this is what he says
""it touches me in my sleep. It doesn;t like crysis i can run on most everything high with 1200 x 1024 and its not really choppy unless your in a village. but it rips everything else. o ya its really hot don't touch it. i had to make profiles to adjust the fan speed wish it was just automatic""
and also if you get 2 of those cards do they work 2geather like SLI?

That depends. Crysis is an absurd game. Not even two GTX280s in SLI can max it at a playable setting yet. Turn everything to 'very high' in Crysis and even at a low resolution it runs like fudge.

Sam's parts list is a bit more advanced than mine, can you afford it? I noticed that you wanted a Monitor in that 1500 also?
You can do CROSSFIRE(not SLI, because these are ATI cards) on that motherboard. Get two 4850's and the GA-X48-DS4 and you are good to go!

Yeah, that rig will Handle Crysis EASILY. Plus you're getting a 22" Monitor so it's not like you will be trying to play at 2560x1600.

A moderate gaming PC can handle crysis, but if you want to turn everything to the max, the PC I suggested that's 1500 without the monitor would be the bare minimum to pull that off at 1680x1050. However, a little tweaking of the detail settings (typically lowering the shadow quality) and it'll easily run at that resolution on a less powerful PC.
If you're willing to spend more than 1500 initially but let the rebates bring it back, lose one HD4850 from that list and add this:

Using an HD3870 at 1920x1200 I can max the game (without Anti-Aliasing) and score at least 20fps for the entire game except for the ridiculous final boss where it dropped to about 12-15 (which is the same frame rate that I played it at, the last scene is twice as demanding as anything else). Using an HD4850 you'd get far higher performance than this, and at a lower resolution, I'd say you could probably turn it all the way up and get at least 25fps for pretty much the entire game.

It is hard, yes, and it's made moreso by the fact that quite justifiably, the end boss is actually quite a difficult section of the game. It's a bit buggy as well...
