Today I recieved my Easycap usb 2:0 card to record computer games onto my computer. After spending two and a half hours installing the damn thing and downloading a huge amount of stupid little system 32 files that it kept telling me I needed, I watched a video tutorial on how to connect it all correctly. I followed these instructions and connected all the cables and that seems to work alright as I could still see the game screen on my televison. However when I opened the ulead video studio included with the card and select capture video from device I end up getting a blank screen for a few seconds and then my computer restarts itself and tells me it has recovered from a serious error.

Another problem is that when I remove the capture card and reset the computer and reinsert it again the computer identifies it as being new hardware and I have to reinstall it again even though I have already installed it. I am not sure if the problem could be that the card is only compatable with usb 2:0 ports and mine somehow isn't, although my computer is a windows XP so therefore I assumed the usb ports are all 2:0. I would also like to note that I had to plug my card into one of the ports at the back of the computer because the two at the front are broken(gives you an idea on what a piece of crap my computer is). Are the back usb ports 2:0 compatible?

Anyone have any suggestions or advice?

USB2 will only work if your motherboard has USB2 ports, and you have either installed a USB2 driver, or are you using XP Service pack 1 or later.
USB2 ports came around I think about 6 years ago.

Well I have had this computer brand new for about 3 years and is a windows XP, which I am fairly certain usb 2:0 ports are built in. Is there any way to check what kind of usb port I have. What I don't understand is that when I first plug the device into one of the ports A message appears saying the device will perform better in a hi speed 2:0 usb port and asks me if I want to move the device to a different port, even though I am sure they are all 2:0 anyway. Perhaps there might be a drive I haven't installed properly.

If I can't get this to work by the next day I am just going to try it on my friend's laptop because my patience with this thing is coming to an end.

What brand is your computer? You may have some luck reinstalling your USB/Chipset drivers.
