I have a pavilion dv4000 and for some reason i cant burn dvd's now, it starts to burn and then returns sometype of error,here is a log.

Uninstall the burner, in Device Manager, and reboot. If that doesn't work, uninstall your secondary controller, under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, then reboot.

Thanks , but I tried that and I still have the same problem, it will burn a cd but when i try to burn dvd to the hard drive it always gives some type of error. (tsstcorp CD/dvdw TS-L532R) in a pavilion dv4000 notebook ..

I get the exact same error, I have a compaq and have been using it over a year all the sudden got this error and now it dont work at all can read disc's but not burn even music.

2 different errors.. first one is probably a crapped out samsung dvd drive.. data_read_error.. failing to read from disk. Try cleaning the laser.

second one... DRM errors.. trying to burn burnproofed drm laden rubbish.

I also tried to clean the laser<
I read something about the drivers are out dated and there is no way to update because hp does not list them anylonger as well as samsung ...
