seagate external hardrive just stopped working. For a couple of times the light and the motor kept flickering and then would shut off, I thought it might be a cable misfunction, but now it wont even turn on.Ive had it 2 months

try the drive inside your PC if you can, or inside another enclosure. The power brick to the unit may be at fault, not the drive itself.
P.S. Change your thread title to something more relevant or it will be closed.

You're in the right section, but the title of your thread should specifically detail what you need help with - a lot of people skim past threads that just say 'help!' as they don't know what they're about, and on that basis moderators close them.

Installing the drive in the PC requires the PC to be off, you going inside with a screwdriver, screwing it in underneath/beside etc. the current hard disk (it'll look similar) and plugging it into your PC's motherboard with the appropriate data and power cable.

DOES THIS MEAN THE EXTERNAL HARDRIVE ID DEAD FOR GOOD?

It means the enclosure the drive is in may be faulty, not the drive itself. If you open the enclosure, the drive should look exactly like the one in your computer. This is where Sammorris' advice comes in. If the drive works in your computer, you can simply buy another drive enclosure, they arent expensive (but you dont want a cheap one), and go back to having an external drive. If it doesnt work inside your computer, and you are 100% sure its plugged in correctly then I'd say its probably dead for good.
