this is how it would work

My "best" guess would be that someone would have to make two programs:
1) a program that would make the torrent that would have you
enter a short code (like: a2DF5 ) as part of the code to
associate all the parts together. At the time of posting,
this code would be know - and would have to be seen by
"human eyes" to be written down (in order to join the
sections together again). Why? My guess is that most of
the tracking is done automatic, and it would take too much
effort to verify all the postings and gathering the codes.
2) another program is needed (it could be part of the same program.
This allows you to put in your code in, and it would then find
all the parts, and put the correct parts back together again.

My "guess" is the best way for this to work is that durning the build
of the torrent, this program splits it into multiple torrents, which
you would know at the time of downloading (maybe after sending it
through one of the programs and putting in the code).

The "origial" posting would be maybe something like this:
Complete U2 Discography - 18 CD's
Torrent link (you would click on the link)
Code: 34DF56xi

After clicking on the link you would receive a small torrent file.
You would then run this link through "the program" - but you must
then enter the "code" (34DF56xi) to get the information. Without the
code you would not get the information.

The information you would get is, maybe three or more links that you would down load (as you would a normal torrent). Names of these
would be like:
oiqopivnq93276.rar
fjq8-gn04830og.rar
3nsbpog828-2to.rar

When you finish downloading the three "rar" files (just an example),
you would use "the program" again to "merge" them back together again
to what the original poster had made...the U2 cd's.
===============================================
This is the basic idea...I'm not a programmer guy.
So, anyone for else for it? We could call them "torrent2" files...for multiple files!
Cheers!

A possible "idea" is to contact someone who created
"MakeTorrent" at:
MakeTorrent v2.0 by kRYPT (krypt@mountaincable.net)
- I'll send krypt a email, and post if I get a reply.

Well, I got a email reply back from Mike...and have posted it with his permission:

Hi,

From reading the forum post.. this looks like a solution that's out
looking for a problem.

I think you'd have much better luck if you first articulated exactly
what it is that's currently wrong the .torrent model, and how your
proposal would address those deficiencies.

Also, you probably do NOT want to call it "Torrent2". Bram Cohen owns
the trademark on "BitTorrent", and while i'm not sure about "Torrent"
itself you may find yourself in some legal hot water.

I did send a message to Bram Cohen asking about his view point...and I'll post if I get a reply.
Cheers!

I think using the word "torrent" in any structure... seems to raise a question...

So it might have to change to maybe.. "Rorrent" (that might work) :)

ive been thinkin

- i think every thing should b done through this program? no goin 2 web sits etc

- it needs 2 run through more than 2 proxies

- every 1 has FREE accounts and this shows how much you upload and download ratio

- you can comment on torrents

- try and only have 1 of every torrent

...my idea is to create a more "secure" system, and one would use
a program like this or a simular designed program. Didn't think about just using the progam to do this...you have to have a way to "announce" what was out there, and if it was a dead "Rorrent" or not...maybe it could be "built" into the program...don't know.
...agree on the more than 2 proxies thing
... free for sure, and the ability to write comments -maybe as part of a seperate "attached" file that is downloaded with each "Rorrent"
....now we just need a programmer :)
(Maybe a program like "Vuze" would be intrested...I'll see if I can give them a shout...so far nothing back from Bram Cohen...)
