hi i just pulled a motherboad and processor from an emachines 190 and i installed os x86 on it, but there was a problem with the graphics not sharing memory and i updated the bios to version 3.24 , but when a turn the pc on it tells me that it is a HP computer now! also when you move the mouse when osx86 has booted up, the screen flickers off and on. i know the screen is fine because i have tested it on a diffrent computer. this might sound a bit of dumb question but is there anyway that i can wipe the bios clean and start agian with it or can it be downgraded to the old version.

specs

intel celeron 2.2ghz
1 gig of ram
intel motherboard not sure what model

this is my first messing iwth the bios so please forgiv me.

thanks for any help

PS pulled motherboard and cpu from an emachines 190.

yea why dont you just get the bios for an emachines 190? It should upgrade just make sure you read twice or else you'll mess up the bios, then your screwed. And if it says hp then you just got the wrong bios. your lucky it didnt mess it up.

You have to find out the model of the phoenix motherboard. And then do a google search for it. Or just go to the phoenix website. Make sure you either get an .exe or a tool to install it. Called a flasher.

Um...im suprised that it works. Usually if you flash it with the wrong bios it messes it up. But anyway i wouldnt leave it like that. It cant be safe eventually your going to have problems. And your not going to benefit from the new bios update for your pc. I would just keep looking until you find the right one.

YOUR RIGHT I SPOKE TO SOON. i found out what motherboard i have i have an imperial_GL_GV i have found a BIOS but can i downgrade you will it install just like an upgrade. the version 1.01 an old version i think but can it be done. i rang emachines and they were no help at all. i have also look on phoenix BIOS site and they said that the manufacture will have changed some of the code so you have to go to them for support . so i am stuck at the moment and not sure what to do.

please would you be able to give me instruction on how to proform the BIOS update because the last time i did it off my own back i messed it up.

thanks again for your help and time.

So do you have the bios you need with the flasher or you cant find it?

EDIT: sorry i didnt read it right. You can downgrade the bios. But it wouldnt be like a downgrade because they are two different versions of the bios.

Well it depends if its a .exe or a file that you cant open by yourself. If its n .exe all you have to do is run it while your computer is on. If its another type you have to have flasher. Like winflash.
