ok my computer turns off by itself and when i try to turn it back on it shuts off that same instant..im thinking of formatting my harddrive..but..when i do format the hdd will the OS be deleted to?

it may be easier to try to diagnose the issue before you format, as it will completely wipe the OS unless its on a separate partition or HD.

whats your operating system?

Have you tried to boot into safe mode to see if it is something you installed that is causing the issue? when you switch your pc on keep tapping F8.

I think that it sounds like the computer is overheating. I would make sure that all fans are spinning.

most likely is cpu overheating so it does a thermal shutdown. how long from startup of computer til the pc shuts down? clean the cpu heatsink fan assembly of any dust. also look at the silver topped can shaped objects on the motherboard which are capacitors that they are flat topped not domed & not leaking brown stuff. try another psu as it might have capacitor problems.

thabks for the replys...but umm it shutdown by itself when like on the internet and on a site like youtube or ps3fanboy.com..sites like that kind of lags im going to try to clean it out today
