i need help on how i would do that i googled it and all i could find was info about why certain prossesors were faster

specs

toshiba l35 s2161 (brand)
Windows Vista Ultimate (aka tiny vista rev 01) (not sp1)
1.46ghz intel celeron
pheonix bios latest version (dont know version #'s)
guessing not important past here
1.5gb ram
ati radeon xpress 200m series video card (also minor problem cant find drivers that work for vista i have xp drivers so it doesnt run as well as it should but runs fine)

if possible i would like to get it up to around 2.4ghz (so i can run GOW it runs laggy at lowest 300 x 200 res)
but i will settle with anything above 1.46
if its not possible thanks anyway

I'm guessing you have a desktop computer in this case...first what you must do is access your BIOS cpu management menu and will probably have to change the default processor clock setting (normally set to auto) change to manual...

At this point you can go and change the cpu's clock rate in MHz, the cpus multiplier and so on...

The math works like this...if the CPU clock freq is 200MHZ, and you set the multiplier to x14 thats 2800 or 2.8GHz...

Oh hell yeah, that happens...you have to be careful when overclocking as to not put so much extra stress on the CPU...

keep in mind that if you overclock, take it slow...overclock a lil, boot your system and test it...if that seems stable, then overclock it a lil more and test if stable..

The only way to find that 'sweet spot' is to test, test and test again...and a handy trick if you think you've screwed yourself....if after you overclock and the computer fails to boot....kill the power to it and remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard to reset the BIOS...

and its said (i don't know if this is true) but intels are suppost to be better for OCing....over AMDs...personailiy AMD is my processor choice...just be careful OCing!!!
