I DL'd the latest update from Slysoft of anyDVD and received the error message "Failed to init ElbyCDIO."
Where I'm from Elby CDIO is a specialy sandwich from a restaurant chain. What can be done to rectify the error?

Re-download the program and re-install.

Open the back of your computer, pull out the toasty warm sandwich, eat said sandwich with a bottle of beer, put computer back to gether, the error message should go away. If not, vacuum out all of the crumbs and try again.

Slysoft pointed me to AfterDawn. I'll give the delete & reinstall a crack. I did have CloneDVD on and whacked it.

Had the same problem loading the elbycdio.dll in Vista and found out it wants to run "as administrator". So right click on the icon an select that menu option.

Actually, my exact line was "I'll give the delete & reinstall a crack." Read the whole bloody thing, not just what matches your point of view.

Quote: Description: File ElbyCDIO.sys is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32\drivers. Known file sizes on Windows XP are 10624 bytes (34% of all occurrence), 8064 bytes, 15440 bytes, 9856 bytes, 9728 bytes, 25160 bytes, 11212 bytes, 23628 bytes, 16320 bytes, 13268 bytes, 5460 bytes, 13896 bytes.
The driver can be started or stopped from Services in the Control Panel or by other programs. The program has no visible window. There is no detailed description of this service. It is not a Windows core file. You can uninstall this program in the control panel. ElbyCDIO.sys seems to be a compressed file. Therefore the technical security rating is 28% dangerous, however also read the users reviews.
Try deleting this file then reinstalling it due it being corrupted in its current form.
another solution
Not to sound like a wise A$$, but most solutions I've seen mention that a cracked version of either AnyDVD or CloneCD use a modified version of this file to get past the registration process.
and from the guys at Slysoft themselves.
Slysoft
One of these should work. just remove the offending file and do a fresh install with a stable version of the programs.

"Giving it a crack" is taken by most of us to mean giving something a try, an attempt, a trial, etc.

And there was I with my 30 years electronics behind me thinking I was back in the old tube days meaning of "whacking it firmly with the palm of the hand while listening for any crackles" Works better with heads than electronics these days ;)

What an odd thing to be advised by the makers of the software.. sorry if I'm lacking in belief.
Have you worked through these?
