I currently use Vuze, which has been working great until now and all I get is yellow faces... I went to options and tested the port and firewall which has brought back the error message "NAT Error - connect attempt to (my computer - 11945 timed out after 20 seconds. This means your port is probably closed." I've read a few threads on this subject which has not got me anywhere. So any help for a dummy I would be grateful.
Ive read a few things about Port forwarding, opening ports but I am clueless on how to do so. I dont understand why it was working fine before and all of a sudden its not.... Please help!
I'm using a router and I've just checked the test i did before for the port and firewall on Vuze, and I thought it odd before but just noticed after looking at the last link you gave me that when i do the test my comp starts with 82.38 is'nt that wrong?? shouldnt it be 192. forgive me if im wrong as i am really new to all this but I will check out the links you gave me. Thanks for your reply. :)
If you have a router, you'll have to port forward it and maybe set a static address too. Go to PortForward, find and click on your router, click your client in the next window and follow the directions: http://www.portforward.com/english/route...routerindex.htm If you need a good guide for a static address, one there too: http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm Just pay attention to your DNS Server and Default Gateway being the same, if they are, you can't use them but those at OpenDns will work well, the Default Gateway will be fine.
I set up a new static address with no problems, but when i try access my router information through my browser, the page continuously loads with nothing there. Ive used the username and password and even checked it through the makers site and all should be okay, but the box reappears and page just loads when i click the box off i just get an error "Access to this information denied." Was wishing this would of worked, and I might get my lovely green faces back but no joy as yet :( .... Thank you for trying though Mistycat.. much appreciated.

They were the same when i was getting the information for the static address so what does that mean???
Sorry I am new to all this if you'd of asked me what a torrent was a month ago I would of been clueless!! LOL ...... Suppose we all have to start learning somewhere. :)
Well thanks for all your help but it seems i've got my lovely green faces back now. I'm not quite sure how mind. I amended the port in connections in Vuze, then went to my firewall and added that port and opened it. I tested it and the port is all fine in Vuze. Did'nt even know i could do that in my firewall, but it worked so hey thanks for your time Mistycat!!! x
That's good but I've a feeling it'll turn red again in the future. If it does, just follow the instructions for your router and static address. You can use DNS Servers in this post about OpenDNS: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=150520 the Default Gateway would be your router, you can also find yours on the status/info ? page of your router. Forgot this, being new to torrents you may not be using the SafePeer option, you should: http://bunta.orconhosting.net.nz/safepeerguide.htm
