means, but just cuz I'm bored, how about the Commodore 64? Way back in the early eighties a friend of mine loaned me his....for about twelve months....LOL. This little gem plugged into the back of the TV, and was a revelation in terms of entertainment. The original tape player was replaced with a floppy HARD-DRIVE.,...ROFL. You could make your own programs in basic and save them... and amaze friends... you know the rocket taking off etc :P

I guess the biggest revelation was that proggys could be hacked. Not that I ever could, but wern't "those" people held in high esteem? There where whole "locally based community clubs" dedicated to the end user. Here's a blast from the past.... GEOS! Graphic Environmental Operating System. This proggy enabled custom designing and editing within very limited parameters. If I remember correctly, this was available for the Apple Mac also. I, along with a mate purchased this and got a group to "take a look" at this program. We re-shrinked wrapped the original and got a refund...you ain't gonna do that these days.

I distinctly remember the awful loading times of the tape system, and the absolute joy the floppy disc drive was. Fancy a keyboard with a peripheral or two, could make a generations woes just that bit easier. And to think this was after the Vic 20.... :]

Cheers.

I was the first kid on my block with an Intellivision...I never could keep track of the slips for the controllers.

The vic 20.....God that brings back memories. Typing in 200 lines of code to play some music. If you messed up, you had to try and figure out what went wrong. That was fun.

I remember playing for hours on end with the atari 2600. Too bad those controllers couldn't stand up to the abuse of how I played my games!!

I know this is rhetorical but it sure wasn't fun....at all. A bunch of mates and i tried to emulate the "samantha fox 21" game (blackjack) The best thing was to TRY and make it rather than bloody well play it. Wasn't playing that god awful rubbish, so frustrating at the time? Some of us just aren't made to play 21! ....but we did get to better levels of the original on the odd occaision. What a ripoff that shite was! and un-forgiven.

What's the difference these days? Adrenalin or just plain hormonal?

frenetically yours. :)

Is that the answer to me question or is someone in fine fettle todaye? :)
For the history buff, the only reason that Burke and Wills had to blaze their initials in the tree was that they forgot the Vic 20 and couldn't get a decent broadband connection even if they could get it. Nothing much has changed since, believe me.
I must be getting synical in me olde age perhaps.

Chairs.
