Which kind of modchip is best for ps2?

Like.. I want to be able to use external hardrives for like iso files, but I also want to be able to play burned games without using Magic Swap..

Also, would phat or slim ps2 be better in this case?

I have a soft modded fat ps2 with a 320gb hard drive which is great. Can play ISOs off it, rip games to it from the console itself, or to the hard drive via pc, save AVI/MPEG etc to it and play them, also got a snes emulator with like 750 games which is schweeet. I have cogswap on the hard drive too, but you do need to open your ps2 tray with a credit card for that one. Although may as well just save the image onto the hard drive via your pc, which is what i normally do.

Thats the best bit, you don't need a mod chip, and all you have to buy is an IDE hard drive and a network adapter if you dont have one. Check out my tutorial on it to see if its what your looking for. Feel free to ask any questions too.
