Problems playing 720p and 1080p mkv files on PowerDVD and MPC

Hi,

My computer setup is:
CPU: 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 (Silverthorne)
Chipset: Intel SCH US15W (Poulsbo)
CCCP with CoreAVC and PowerDVD installed.

The chipset has GPU supported acceleration for H264 Media. CPU itself shouldn't be used.

PROBLEM ONE

If I play a normal mp4 H264 trailer:
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer - 720p Trailer
The Bourne Ultimatum - 1080p Trailer (http://www.h264info.com/clips.html)
on PowerDVD it runs perfectly due to Hardware Acceleration on PowerDVD. If I then run the same files on MPC or WMP the video shutters like hell while the audio plays fine.

I then come to anime mkv's. These have soft subs embedded in them so I can change the subtitle language on the fly.

So I am unable to run any media files with mkv extensions on PowerDVD. If I change the extension to say .mp4 or .h264, sometimes it will work perfectly(audio/video), however there is no subtitles. And sometimes it doesn't work. Sorta hit and miss.

PROBLEM TWO

Demuxing the mkv of its video stream, I get a .h264 video file. This I can run in PowerDVD perfectly. I've tried both 1080p and 720p mkv's and demuxed then and they looked perfect without any shuttering. However there is no audio, or no subtitles since its only a video stream ^^;;;

Is there a way I can use the PowerDVD codec's to run an mkv in MPC?
Or run mkv's through PowerDVD with subtitles?
Basically any way I can run a 720p mkv file with soft subs.

BTW I would like to keep re-encoding/hard subbing as my last resort.
