hello there

I am getting ready to put together a new pc. This is my first custom built PC so i will need you help
Thanks.

So I am gonna use it for my work mostly which is Web/Graphic design, so i am gonna work with PhotoShop A LOT and Dreamweaver. I dont play a lot of games (maybe one??), and just watching vids and listening to music.

And i have a budget of about $1,000 for it. I doubt i will need more for my type of PC.

So lets start with a CPU:

or

Don't use AMDs, the Intels have a lot more raw processing power, which you'll need for programs like Dreamweaver.
Start with this CPU:

I would get the quad core Q6600 for ~$40 more. For Digital Media, and the correct programs that utilize quad cores, they are much better. There is only going to be more and more programs that do as well.

I have my Q6600 at 3.4 on Air, so a dual core a 3.8 isn't gonna show that much performance in the long run.

xfx 790i P08 Bios
Q6600 at 3.4GHz
Patriot Viper DDR3 1600MHz 7-7-7-20-1T
GTX280 710 core clock i think
Dual boot system with:Ubuntu 64-bit,Vista Ultimate 64-bit,

Go with what sammorris said, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128344

I don't know about budget MB's to be honest.

For your graphics card, get one 4850 512mb and you will be good. They are at a good part of the price-performance curve.

Get a basic DVD writer/the cheapest 500GB Hard drive you can find/

Antec 300 case is good for you, and get a 620 HX modular power supply from corsair.

Looks good dude, but you don't need a case that big, and you can save close to ~100 if you get a different one.

The case is nice though and if you can get all your supplies and still be under the $1000 mark then your good.

Indeed, the case is unnecessarily expensive, when you can get one of these:

The Rosewill is a deathtrap. The Corsair VX is probably one of the best power supplies ever made. There couldn't be too more different power supplies. The VX550W will be plenty.

OR if you want less clutter some thing like a 520 or 620HX.

I wish I had gotten a 620HX. Would have saved a lot of time doing the cable management in this case. Oh well, it still looks good.

To be fair mate, with one 4850, a 450W VX would have done, or the 520HX if you wanted modular. A 650W TX can power that system twice with ease.

Then the 520HX would still suffice.

Actually Sam is right. A 520HX is all you need. Stick with the NZXT Tempest and get a 4850 for your video card.

Ehh, I don't like it. No front fan. I hate cases with no front fan. Plus it looks gimmicky.

And the 4850 is very good card. I've never heard of driver issues. I have on and it works like a charm.
