Hello,

Can someone recommend a -reliable- program that will extract just the stereo main mix from a DVD and convert it to a WAV or an MP3 that my audio editore can properly read? I've tried some video converters (Nero, Pinnacle) and they seem to often get confused between the 'regular' audio and then the 'Dolby' audio or the 'Directors Comments' track... I'm something of a video neophyte.

TIA,

---JC

One way.

Rip the DVD and load into DGIndex (usually select VTS_01_1.VOB)

Press F5 and a list of video and audio is shown.

The main English track is often ID 80.

Click 'Audio' => 'Demux Tracks'

'Audio' => 'Select Tracks' and put enter the ID number (80?)

Click 'File' => 'Demux Audio-only stream'

Convert the ac3 to wav with 'PX3ac3towav

Works great.

I sure wish there was a one-step method, though.. I only need to do this about once every 3 months and I'm afraid I'll forget the whole process by then! :D

Nonetheless... THANKS! Did just what I needed!

Big Cheers!

I think you can if you select 'Audio' => 'Output Method' => 'Decode AC3 track to WAV'.
Then 'File' => 'Save project and demux video'
That way you get a wav plus a video.

I tried AOExtractor. Got two results.
1. A bunch of digital noise.

2. The directors comments, but not the main audio.

The first suggestion worked -great-, however.

Thanks,
