recently had to reformat this notebook. it did not have any kind of firmware cd with it, so had to pull all the drivers off the compaq site. seemed simple enough, loaded pretty much all the drivers on without an issue.

but now, i can't seem to get the wifi going. i installed pretty much everything from the link below, but still no go.

i've searched for the drivers online, installed tons... but still nothing.

wireless adapter model: intel(r) pro/wireless lan 2100 3b mini pci adapter
os: office xp pro
note: since reformat, no service packs have be installed yet. could this be affecting the wifi?
troubleshooting: the wifi is working b/c my blackberry connects just fine.

wifi radio is turned on, and i keep getting the bubble that states that wifi connections available (so is detecting). but when i go to connect, it states "wireless connection unavailable."

at my wits end here, any help would be much appreciated.
