Wonder what type of sites you visit at night. But seriously turn the power switch off in the back, or change the bios settings and disable the wake on lan function.

Yeah probably receiving a spurious wake on LAN function. You can either go into the BIOS and turn that feature off, or failing that, turn the PC off at the PSU/wall socket.

Usually you can access your BIOS settings by pressing the F2 button during start up, or by pressing the DEL key, what type of computer do you have and what operating system?

Maybe he has both pcs with the same problem-operator error! Anyone who could build a pc, should be able to find the answers for a multitude of problems, with google if they tried.! Gesh

That's not the point. First you said "I have an old computer" and then you said "its only a couple days old" - are we talking about the same PC?

i use my powerbar after windows shuts down the pc to turnoff the power to the pc, monitor, speakers & printer. i've found that even when windows shuts down the pc, my optical mouse laser is still on til powerbar is turned off. go into power management in the bios & turnoff the lan & modem wakeup modes.
