Hi, I have a problem and need some advice please. I've used DVDfab successfully until now. When I open Battlestar Galactica Season 2, it opens alright but the preview window shows pixelated and garbled audio. When I did a full disk back up, the result is the same. Garbled audio and visual. The discs play fine on my DVD player with TV. Is it because my laptop drive is region 3 and the DVDs are region 1? I've got no clue how to proceed from here.

Does the disc play correctly on your computer?
Have you tried giving the disc and your laser lens a real good cleaning?

Thanks for the reply. The disc looks clean but I've cleaned it. I haven't cleaned the lens because the laptop is barely 1 month old. My laptop drive is region code 3 but the disc is code 1 so I need to change my laptop's region code in order to play it on my computer. I don't want to use up the 5 region code changes yet. DVD shrink requires a change in region code as well. But my Philips DVD player plays it even though the machine is region code 3 as well. Could the region code be the problem? Should have checked region code when buying the set.

btw, I'm running Vista Home Basic, and the ripping attempt took >3 hrs. Although DVDfab said it was successful, the output was garbled. Will clean the lens and try again.

Laptops need the drive cleaned more than a PC because everytime you open it, the lens is exposed.

I've ripped all the Battlestar Galactica seasons, i used various versions of DVDFab with 100% success (then encoded with DVD Rebuilder which did an awesome job, especially considering the average video compression was 48%, programs such as DVD Shrink just can't cut it with such severe compression).

I see the lens on the DVD tray now. Can I clean it by just wiping it with a cloth or do I need to buy a dedicated lens cleaning kit? (like they used to do for VHS tapes eg.) Pardon me for the ignorance.
