can i get some advice on what kind of CPU to get ?
i want to get a Quad Core. im not really a big gamer, i already have a ps3 for that. but i do want a really strong and fast cpu so.

these are my 2 current candidates:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650

comments? feedback? advice?

The Q9650 is about 40% faster than the Q6600, but triple the cost. Feeeling rich? :P
The Q6600 is a very powerful CPU and will serve you fine.

I would hit in between and get the Q9450 the 12MB L2 Cache is worth the extra few bucks compared to the Q6600

Extra few? It's $130 for an extra 20% performance, a little steep... :) For those who are willing to spend more and who aren't overclocking, the Q9450 is a nice CPU to have, but if you are, there's little reason to have one over a Q6600 really.
