I am in the process of building a new pc and i ran into a snag. Apparently my new ASUS P5QL-E board does not support ddr3 video cards so i am getting a new NVIDEA GT9500 DDR2 but i have a concern. The MOBO does not have on board graphics and i have never built a new machine with pciexpress2.0, so the questions is if the card be supported and will i have use of the monitor for the install. Logically i tell myself yes since the mono doesnt have graphics so how would i build the new rig without a monitor but just wanted some feedback...

I think you're getting two different things mixed up here; It doesn't support DDR3 RAM, that is, the system RAM you buy in modules for your PC - Most PCs these days have 2GB to 4GB of RAM. DDR3 RAM has little performance gain over DDR2 RAM as of yet so i wouldn't worry about it.
Anyway, the same does not apply for the RAM on your graphics card, that motherboard will still support DDR3 RAM in a graphics card (or even DDR4 or DDR5 if you go with a high end ATI graphics card).
Having now said that - Please don't get a 9500GT, they're poor for gaming, i suggest you look at an nVidia 8800GT, an ATI HD 4850 or even an ATI HD 4870 if you can stretch that far. Even the 8800GT (being the cheapest (and worst) of the three) will offer far better performance than a 9500GT.
I'm not actually sure about booting it for the first time as a blank system and no graphics card - Blind install? Maybe someone else can shed some light.
PSP, all the way from 1.00 to 5.50 GEN D2 - DS Lite w/ M3DS Real (M3 Sakura v1.34)
PS3 3.01 - iPod Touch 2G 16GB Jailbroken - Xbox 360 60GB - PC, Q6600, 3GB DDR2, GTX260 (216) 896MB

thanks for the clarification. The deed is done though ive ordered the 9500gt and sent the other back, just got in from the USPS. Gaming is not my thing i just wanted and affordable duallink dvi for photo editing and possibly video editing in the future. so if the type of memory of the graphics card wasnt the issue can anyone clarify why once i had all my parts installed and triple checked the screen was blank?

Did you get the 4-pin CPU power connector plugged in right, and the RAM seated correctly in the slot?

24 and the 8 will do fine, I tend to forget the more modern boards with 8-pin connectors, even though I use one myself... :P

Are any IDE drives that are connected to the motherboard, powered properly? What PSU do you have?

Yeah, sounds like a POST failure. As a precautionary I would try a new PSU, I've seen a faulty Basiq unit recently, so it's far from impossible yours could be too. I know the system seems to be powering up, but it may be providing unstable voltage on another rail that isn't immediately obvious.
