I just recently started using Nero 6 from version 5 and I thought everything was gonna work well upgrading to a newer version and all that. Unfortunately I was shocked to discover that things aren?t going all that well at all!

My discovery was that when burning an audio CD in Nero 6 it doesn't mix the tracks like it should. I've used Nero 5 many times before and have never had any trouble burning mixed music (e.g. dance or hip-hop) but Nero 6 has some kind of major software problem. It removes a small part of the end of the track (or mp3, ogg file etc..) and replaces it with silence, even though it's only a short gap it's still rubbish to listen to.

Now I don't burn any CDs with 6 that have some kind of mixing going on between each track and have gone back to version 5. Until somebody who develops the Nero software can fix this problem I will be staying with 5 as it's the only version I know that works right and I will be certainly NOT recommending it to anybody who's into burning their own music CDs.

in Nero express you should just have to tick the "no pause between tracks box" and then burn in "disc in once" mode (it won't work in track at once mode). works for me. otherwise after using my audio editor to mix tracks, I normally use cakewalk pyro (a simple editor/burner) to burn because it has a simple track splitter, just drag and drop, so no more file cutting!
It also leaves no audio "gap" between tracks. you should give it go!

Well that's all very interesting but the fact still remains that this software doesn't work properly, they should have thought about what they were doing, however you try to use it in version 6 and it does "NOT, AND IN NO WAY WHATSOEVER" mix your mp3's correctly. Using Nero in Express version makes no difference to how the software performs, and regardless of the equipment (drives etc..) to the outputed media you arrive at.

There's always going to be some teething problems with new software, but nero is probably the most complete burner out there so I'd stick with for a while. As I said before it WORKS fine for me (NO pre-gap,post-gap between tracks). The reason I gave instructions in express is I thought because you were having problems, using the wizard GUI might make it easier. Sorry if I offended you. Anyway I'd try this, If u haven't already:

I'd update your version (newest version is 6.3.0.3) if it's not already current, I'm using v6.3.0.2 and that works fine for me.

If that doesn't do it I'd try updating your cd-rw's firmware and drivers, you never know?

http://www.driverguide.com/
or your manafacturers page.

Finally contact support at nero and see what they can do to help.

Hope that help and u get it working.

Yes I know, thanks for be responsive but I'm not really looking for any help by posting replies to this thread, I originally posted it in the first place to be more of an awareness to others who do what I have already done. I already know that it doesn't work because I have tested right up to the version you're using and on 3 different computers with 3 very good burners including a DVD writer. The mp3's that I was using need to be mixed otherwise it's pointless burning it and wasting a CD. I don't really intend on burning anymore because it's just a waste of discs, version 5 works perfectly as I've already proved. I don't really understand how you can say you are burning correctly with it, maybe you need to get mp3's that are better mixed than the ones you've been using, where there isn't anything to distinguish between your track #'s, then really listen to exactly what has happened to your disc, try and compare the same music to Nero 5 and you'll then see what I mean.

I used to DJ when I was younger (mainly hiphop) and now all my music is mixed digitally or "live" using turntables connected to the PC. I use mainly cakewalk plasma and when I finish I'm left with one long music file which I then cut into tracks to burn. So I know what you mean, and for me Nero 6 works fine so I'm buggered if I know why it won't work for you, that's computers for you! If it's hiphop I'd like to hear what you've been mixing, I've got a stack of my own mixtapes dating back to some early 90's New York stuff if your interested.

Well, I just don't get how the same software coming from the same networks/servers doesn't function on any computers I've tryed it on. Ever since they introduced the Express version it's just seemed to all go wack when burning off any CD, as there's so many now, especially new ones that are coming out and they're all mixed and I can't use it on a machine that also doesn't detect Nero 5 because the drive is so new it doesn't know it's there.
