Good day to you! I bought a Striker II Formula motherboard by ASUS and it included a SupremeFX II audio card, however through every troubleshooting step I could think of, I have yet to get past the quite frequent crashes. Here's the technical side:

I have the proper drivers (SoundMAX Audio for Vista 32-bit [I run Vista Ultimate]) and my "HD Audio" toggle in BIOS set to "Auto", and have tried with HD Audio and AC97. Both work, however neither keep the card from sporadically ceasing to function. Mostly when I play a game, the card decides not to output any audio except from my microphone, and requires me to reboot my computer to alleviate the problem. This has been happening more and more often recently and I have tried the following:

-Adjust connections on audio card, making sure front panel cables are plugged in and audio card is securely attached to motherboard
-Reinstalled the drivers for my audio card

I have done a few more things, but being as they didn't work, I did not exactly remember them. I HAVE called ASUS tech support, however I have been told they were too busy both times I called.

So, what I really want to know is if anybody else uses the Striker II Formula mobo with SupremeFX II audio card, and if they had this problem.

I'd RMA the card, but I can't guarantee that it's actually broken and might be a complete waste of time.

Technical specs of my computer:
Intel Core-2 Quad Q9300 CPU (2.5GHz)
4GB of DDR2 RAM
Vista Ultimate 32-Bit OS
2x Geforce 9800GTX Video Cards
Striker II Formula motherboard with SupremeFX II Audio Card

Please help in my time of need!
DDRmaster

Bleh. I'll make a sig later.

This may not sound very helpful, but it's a Striker, that's probably your problem. Striker motherboards are absolute garbage.

Heh, I noticed. My dad absolutely insisted on buying it and now he's not willing to help replace the audio card. Do you know any cards that will go in place of the SupremeFX? It's an expansion card and I think it goes in PCI-E rather than PCI. I think, at least...

Bleh. I'll make a sig later.

You could just stick a PCI Audigy SE or X-Fi card in there, or use a USB SoundBlaster Live! External like I do - that works fine.

I don't think I can really do a PCI card, the extra slot is in between the two video cards, restricting the fan in the first one from getting any air circulation, sadly. I might just do external, but I heard they're not as good. What might be the disadvantage to using USB/external other than latency?

Bleh. I'll make a sig later.

Almost none - I use it for 5.1 surround for HD video, works fine for that, works fine for surround in games too, the only thing it can't do is output surround sound over digital formats (Coax or Optical) - it supports the channels, but only in stereo or upscaled (ProLogic)

Sweet! However, on a side note, does your card have a line-in on it? I have a Toneport UX2 (Uses your computer as a guitar amp) and would like to have it output through my speakers everything else on my computer. I ask this because it's a hassle, otherwise and my current card has line-in.

Bleh. I'll make a sig later.
