DVDCD-RW drive won't read DVD+RW

I have a Presario 1800T laptop with a Toshiba SD-R2002 DVDCD-RW drive. I burn DVD+R's and DVD+RW's on my desktops Memorex Dual Format drive using Nero 5.5.x.x and I use Memorex dvd+r and dvd+rw media. Problem is, my laptop won't read the dvd+rw's. It reads the dvd+r's just fine. Is it the drive? Or the media? Can I flash the drive to fix it? Should I try to update the drives drivers? I am using the standard Win98SE drivers for it. It burns and reads fine, except for the dvd+rw's. Any ideas?
