hi guys i have a moded ps2 sch 77004.i wanna play game through my hdd.....how can i connect it to my ps2.i have usb extreme will it work on ps2...thanks in advance.

It works fine on PS2, the thing is not all games are compatible.

Some games the intro and movies skip or are very slow, but gameplay is fine.
Some get to the loading screen but then freeze, so you may have to Swap the DNAS or IOPRP image to get them too work.

Hi everyone,i recently buyed a usb hdd(500gigs),i read all about playing games using usbextreme,usbadvance and ulaunchelf,but i am facing a problem,i have a modded ps2 slim,i made a usbadvance, ulaunchelf, and usbextreme cd and when i load the cd(usb advance and extreme) in ps2,official ps2 logo appears as usual and then screen becomes blank,nothing happens after that,but when i use ulaunchelf global war 4.08 cd ,it loads the menu screen of itself,and when i select usb advance in it,again the screenbecomes blank,i already have connected my hdd to ps2.My hdd works fine cause i have already cheacked it through file browser in ulanchelf software,can anybody please help me with this situation..................

Hello

So you have formatted your hdd with FAT32

Then you have transferred games to hdd using the USB Extreme Win32 utility , and they don't appear in the USBAdvance screen.

There is no usbadvance screen actually!!!!! as soon as the cd loads,its nothing but blank,not even usbadvance menu screen appears!!!!!wat shud i do????????????????
even from the ulaunchelf cd,its becomes blank when i click usbadvance????

i double clicked open the image file i downloaded(usbadvance and usbextreme seprately burned) in Nero and burned it without multisession and underrun buffer at a 24k speed.(Cant ulaunchelf can play games from HDD as it also contains usbadvance)

When i play burned dvd`s the ps2 logo appears(after it game starts),same does happen with usbadvance cd,but after the logo disappears,a blank screen appears and nothing happens after dat.

Ok you can't burn CD using a multisession for PS2

You need to burn this one to CD for it too work from CD.

The uLe 4.08 you have is specially made with other ELF files on it, so yes you can use the USBadvance from it.

But you need to have your USB drive plugged into PS2 and turned on for it to recognize it.

They are applications to use on your pc using the DOS COMMAND in windows.

Its better to use the USB Extreme Win32 utility to format hdd and Install games to hdd, or use USB Insane

To burn your ISO, just use Nero and select "burn image" or use Alchol 120, or imgburn if you like.

How can i use memory card to boot hdd of ps2 without any disc(cd/dvd)...........i tried usbadvance on my bro ps2 also,it didnt worked but i managed to load usb_war.elf file by the help of ulaunchelf with which usb advance was working but still it didnt worked directly(my ps2 shows blank screen when i load elf).I tried mercenaries 2 from hdd but it hanged on usbadvance loading screen.
im trying other games and ill inform u about it,but tell me how to boot usbadvance using memory card only(w/out cd/dvd).

Sumthing is wrong with my console as it cant load usbadvance by disc,even it is moded.My model is scph-7006,ive heard on other forums that the problem is of macrovision thing....do u have any idea about it?

First we need to know what type of modchip you have.

Then I can tell you if you can copy to the mc and boot from it or not.

As for some games not loading properly with USBAdvance.elf, that is because not all games are compatible.

So then you need to change the DNAS or IOPRP image in the ISO.

The links I gave in my first post tell you how to do that.

Yea i read about the dnas iopr image thing,see i have a tekken 5 dvd and i ripped an iso on pc of it,according to DNAS procedure i shud have dnas*.img file in dvd game but in it, its only iopr280.img in dvd,so i cudunt understand how to make it work,secondly i dont know which modchip i have or my brother has,my bro got his ps2 from dubai and i buyed it here in india in my city(Lucknow) from grey market,i dont want to go to vendor as they charge beyond their standard(really greedy people),my bro`s ps2 is scph-77006 and mine is scph-70006.My bro`s ps2 loads usbadvance screen by elf but not mine,microvision or macrovision thing is the problem i think,and im really getting confused what to do now.

Ok here is an example say if you had a "Matrix Modchip"

It tells how to add files to mc by using DEV1 mode.
It has a "Infinity Manager" one installs to PS2.

Also tells how to disable "macrovision" under Configuring the Matrix Infinity Menu.

Another example is say if you have a DMS4 chip and using "Toxic Bios" as the manager.

It again allows you to use DEV1 among other things.

See what I mean, hard to help you out if you don't know what modchip you have?

i sumhow managed to install mcboot but the boot.elf file i have is of hdloader which is useless for me,wat i need is for usb hdd.

Hey thanx for ur help,i dont know y things are not working on my ps2 but i certainly see that i hav a hope with my bro`s ps2,wat ill do is exchange my console with him as mainly uses dvd`s to play games,wat i need to know is that where can i get the software(cd/dvd gen iso) to make iso`s after changing dnas or iopr files of ripped dvds.

Secondly does the elf of snes and nes roms can be played by hdd?

At one time there was a really good USB compatibility site, but it doesn't exist anymore.
This one here will tell if some games work or not with USbAdvance.

Yes the snes and nes , pgen work off the hdd just fine.

Thanx for all ur help,i used mc boot on my bro`s ps2 and it worked just fine,i read the application and i can now modify it as i like it and i have loaded many .elf files on my hdd bcoz of dat.All is done except only one thing is left and dat is the DNAS problem.
i dont know y my ps2 cudnt mc boot and launch elfs from hdd.

the purpose of dnas is dat to replace the iopr*.img or dnas*.img of the original iso with the modified one(i already downloaded all the .img from sumwhere) isnt it and make the iso of the new contents??????????Isnt it?and then rip it on hdd.

Ok this method may not work on all games, and some may not ever play off the USB drive.

Some games don't have the DNAS image so you replace the IOPRP one with one of the same size.
On some games there are 2 IOPRP images, sometimes there is an DNAS and IOPRP image.

So that being said, you may have to change one or more of them to get it too work.

It is sometimes quite a hassle to get some games to work.
And there are some games that need nothing done to them to work fine.

see i have tekken 5 ripped on hdd which obviously dont work so when i checked the dvd i saw no dnas img but it had iopr img.So i already have files downloaded(dnas and iopr).What shud i do now,shud i replace the iopr(of game) with dnas(working one downloaded) and rename it to iopr, or shud i replace the iopr with iopr(working one).

The turtorial i read was a lil confusing cuz i cundt understand wat he is trying to point at.

Note:*Tekken 5 has ioprp300.img,what shud i replace it with?

You can try first with replacing the IOPROP image with another IOPRP image and see if that works.

What the tutorial is saying is if you find a DNAS image , then to change it with an IOPROP image and rename it to DNAS image.

U know wat happened today,my bro came wid my ps2 console and told me dat his ps2 dvds aint workin wid my console,i said ok ill den get the lens changed bcoz of dat but he said no and he wants his console back,i requested him but he refused so i became angry and asked him to get out of the house wid his console and ill get my own ps2 fixed.After long discussion i went to the market asked the vendor to help me with usb advance.He told me i didnt had matrix infinity but had an old mod chip(sum bull shit crap) so i payed him US$12 and got the new matrix infinity installed,den i checked my ps2 with all the cd`s of ulf`s and everything and it worked perfect,even mc boot is loaded now.

Finally i got my own thing,now i will try the dnas and iopr problem,i hope that i will succeed in dis 2.

Well that is good you have matrix infinity now. That is cheap or at least in my money would be.

Yes, just try different images of same size and hopefully it will work. It can sometimes take a few seconds of blank screen before game actually loads if it is going to work.
