If anyone out there uses the ISP CLearwire, and likes using p2p programs, you know as well as I do that Clearwire is full of shit.

They justify bandwidth throttling by placing 2 lines in the TOS that say something like "You cannot excessively use your maximum bandwidth (wtf? You mean the bandwidth I paid for?) in a way that harms the network."

So here's a quick guide to use Bittorrent with Clearwire. Or you can adjust things to apply to other P2P type application.

1) Get uTorrent (this guide deals with uTorrent).

2) Set you max download speed to 45KBs

3) Set your max upload speed to 5Kbs

4) When you want to use more speed for a short time (a couple to a few hours) set your upload to 10KBs and your download to W/e.

5) Set protocol encryption to FORCED. This will stop them from knowing where all the bandwidth is going. Especially useful if you get limited and need to explain why.

6) Have a good excuse in case you get limited.
These usually work. They will ask you if you use P2P programs.
Turn of any P2P before your call them to complain about your limited bandwidth.

-"I use Veoh. That's a P2P program!? I thought it downloaded from the interwebz!"

-"My spare PC had a virus and I think it was doing a lot of virus uploading or something. I fixed it though and turned it off. Is my bandwidth looking better?"

NOTE: If you have a higher connection than 756kb/s, you can set your download higher, BUT upload on Clearwire is usually constant 256kb/s regardless of your download plan. So keep it as low as possible and never increase it above 15 or 20 KBs for more than 3 hrs.
Clearwire will throttle your entire connection if they detect too much upload traffic.
