Dvdxcopy is no longer being supported. What are you trying to do with your dvd's?

Intervideo DVD Copy 6 would be the best choice for transcoding hard to read DVDs

ZoSoIV, why?

Maybe this old dog might learn a new trick.

I never browse this forum but I think my burner is getting old or dirty or something so I am here. I got interested in this thread for grins. I have had good service with my grinder but for the longest to I have never needed one after I got this burner (lite-on). It reads about everything. Recently I am getting write errors on good media. First I figured the Sony was starting to slip in crap. I just got a verify error on top grade stuff I have stashed away for special jobs. Obviously, I have my antennas out since I never verify.

sounds like the burner is going bad. have you tryed a firmware update? if you are using Taiyo Yuden and burning at 6x to 8 max and still having problems my bet it would be the burner going bad. try doing some quality scans with nero. Pioneer are making the best ODDs nowadays and they can read almost anything. Intervideo DVD Copy 6 just transcodes hard to read/scratched DVDs the best. how do i know? from lots of experience so just take my work for it lol

I am not convinced that the burner is actually going bad. It still reads very well. It can read a fairly scratched surface. I was not using top of the line media. I was only using Verbatum. I realised later that that was the first time I was verifying what I was burning. There was no write error 'per say'. Had that feature been turned off I would have only seen a skip during the play but nothing during the burn. I put the verify on because I was seeing skips when I used to put out 100% flawless disks. The Sony media is doing much worse. My theroy is media, the burner and the burn speed are all factors in the quality. My original theroy which I have come back to is the brands keep getting a little worse. There was a time when just about any media would make a great disk. As time went on the list has thinned. I have a suspicion if I use top of the line media my problems would go away. I am still sitting on a sizable hoard of blank media 6 months of verbatum and Sony and much much more crap. I don't want to be forced to buy off sale. I have more crap and use it less. I may break down and buy Taiyo Yuden. I like to buy as Best Buy because you could return. That theroy has failed with the inconsistant almost great media. By the time you discover things are not perfect months have passed.
