my down load speed is 150kps i uset 2 all ways max that out on most torrents but now i cant get over 30-60kps.

now Ive tested this out i got 5 torrents that where very well seeded and 1 at i time i started them.

start the 1st and within 10sec i was getting 55kps not 2 bad.
start the 2ed and my speed went 2 about 65kps than i stopped the 1st torrent and my speed just went down 2 60kps
yeah i just keep doing this and i never got over 70kps.

it feels like my IPS have slowed my torrents

So how can i stop this and is doing this even legal?

Yep I know of a lot of ISP's shaping traffic and I can't help you there, but speed wise, are you using private trackers ? Are you using wireless or wired using ethernet cable ? If using wireless, try using ethernet cable and if already using ethernet cable make sure it's secured into your pc and router. Also try re-booting your router and torrent client, just re-boot your pc to be on the safe side :)

Try the logical things first before you decide it is traffic shaping.

Also do a speedtest @ xxx.speedtest.net and see if it's accurate with what you should be getting!

Good luck

Well if it's traffic shaping I'm afraid I can't help you there :(

What is your IS provider ? Maybe some of the other guy's will have some info for you.

Yes you ISP is definitely up to something alright.

Have a read of this >> http://www.officialares.com/announcement...es-p2p-traffic/

I had a quick browse through the above and from what I can see they are saying they are not traffic shaping but alotting different amounts of bandwidth to different users for different things such as gaming, voip ect....

Imo the best torrent client is utorrent, if you use it make sure traffic encryption is enabled and see if that helps. If you don't use utorrent, you might want to try it and enable traffic encryption as I said.

But yeah your ISP is definitely tampering with p2p traffic.

I have mine set to "enabled" so try it on that as you've nothing to loose. Also if your using private trackers, make sure DHT and peer exchange ect... is turned off.

But at the end of the day the problem looks to be down to your ISP and not your client settings :(

I just read your link.

I have friends that got letters from their ISP too, they simply changed ISP and re-formatted their hd. The new torrents files that they now have on their hd is nothing to do with the email they received so it holds no water.

I wouldn't worry bout it too much, especially is your using wireless as the amount of wep cracking these days is unreal, actually I could use my neighbours wireless connection to donwload if I wanted to as they havn't even got it secured lol but their connection is too slow for my liking.

My advice to you is delete any files in question and change ISP.

Good luck mate
