Hi Everybody. I was thinking about how great it would be if I could play DivX files on my unmodded PStwo (slim) via the USB ports on the front. I read about SMS Media Player, and it seems to do everything I want, but I have absolutely no idea how to get it on my PStwo.

All of the guides I've read go *WHOOSH* right over my head. Could somebody please give me a step-by-step, idiot-proof guide to installing SMS on my PStwo? I would be forever grateful.

Thank you

Hello chums. I'm Mr Darcy.

You won't be able to play them on the usb drive on an unmodded PS2, as the PS2 has no way of communicating with the USB drive.
SMS can read a usb drive, but you need a way first to load sms from your PS2.

You can however do it with a CD-R or a DVD-R

The whole guide is here:

If you have a FAT PS2, you could look into installing the PS2 exploit thereby allowing you to use ELF files.
or you could look into getting some one to install fmcb to your mc for you, thereby allowing you to use SMS.

Hello. Thanks for the reply.

Do you mean that I can install SMS by putting it on a dummy DVD video disc and launching it from there? Or just that I can get SMS to play media stored on a dummy DVD video disc?

I'm sorry if I'm being dense.

Hello
Your not being dense. You are correct.

You still need a way to launch the sms.elf

I didn't catch the first time that you have a slim ps2.

There are people who install fmcb 1.7 to your mc for just the cost of postage to them and back for your mc.

Dangwoot is in the states and is reliable. Just check the bottom of the fmcb tutorials for the link if your interested.

You could then be able to watch divx on the usb drive with SMS by just copying the divx files to your USB drive thats formatted with FAT32.
