Hi endo, don't know about the UK but i have been having major problems here in Dublin since friday. Can only get in sometimes and then it is very slow and only stays up for a few minutes.

It was still the same this morning, but might be ok now as it is letting me make a post! :(

It has been one of those "bad luck weeks" this week. The first problem occured during the weekend and continued until Monday afternoon, as we tried to debug the kind of problem LOCOENG mentioned. It was caused by one advertiser's script which was badly programmed and caused weird hiccups and weird URLs across the forums. That was tackled on Monday. But also, pretty much at the same time, database servers started acting weirdly every now and then -- after being running fine for almost 6 months in a row. Debugging found out one messed up query in Hardware section (that has been messed up for two years, but the data in the tables it used didn't apparently exceed "critical mass" until late last week) which caused db servers to grind to halt. That is fixed now (query run time dropped from 300 seconds to 28 milliseconds) and as far as we know, everything should run smoothly now.

Obviously the servers will be tested again, once we enter the winter time, as our traffic typically doubles from Summer months to Dec-Jan period.

what do you expect from a train engineer who suffers from head trauma from all the derailments he caused or slamming into parked vehicles at railway crossings.

Locomotives only go 70 mph under their own power and the speed limit is 49 in my territory. :)

I thought that the derailment was while the train was standing still. The NTSB is still at a loss to explain this one.

One of the trains had to be moving :P

Just happens it was the one with a guy texting instead of driving.
