I've been ripping DVD's for some time and now I've been stumped. I'm trying to rip "diary of the dead" first by using DVD Decrypter which didn't work. Then I tried ripit4me w/ Decrypter but all it backed up were the menus. So then I went to DVD Fab decrypter but it moved way toooo slow so I cancelled. Then I decided to install DVD Fab Hd Decrypter but it too moved way to slow. After an hour of ripping it only got about 3% so I cancelled. This has never happed to me. Anyone got any suggestions. I desperate!
Thanx!!!

dvdfab should work fine, is the disc in good shape?

check and make sure your drives are in DMA mode and not in PIO mode that would cause the slow down, to many read error can put you in PIO mode. here is a link to fix that issue

I think the information on that link you suggested is outdated. I could not get what was discribed in the samples so I was not able change drives into DMA mode

Well all I can tell you is that when I left click on MyComputer then to properties, I do not get what is discribed in the link. I do not get "Primary or secondary IDE Properties or device manager. Nothing like that.

Go to My computer.
Then click on System.
Then click on Device Manager.
Download the latest DVDFab. Just updated today.
In the settings, click on reset DMA.
Then rip.

O.K. I decided to have DVD Fab HD decrypter rip my Doary of Dead DVD over night and it did NOT rip the DVD. Apparently it read some error after ripping for over an hour. This disc is perfectly fine. It does play but cannot be backed up. I've never encoun tered this in the three ears I been backing up DVD's. HELP!

If you can, try it on another computer. If it fails, return it for an exchange.

I just tried that w/decrypter and what I get is a box that says i/o error with the option to abort, reenter or ignore. So I tried ripit4me w/ decrypter and same thing. Same thing happened over night w DVD Fab HD! I've never had such a hard time backing up a DVD. I've been stumped.

Exchange the disk. Sounds like a bad press, which is becoming more common. Bad pressing's can give read errors while trying to rip, even tho it plays fine.

Zoso14 said to get to the primary and secondary IDE channels to make sure it's in DMA mode and it is although under Current Transfer Mode Device 1 for both primary and secondary channels it says "Not Applicable". Is that a problem??? Could that be why DVD Fab abd DVD Fab HD run sooo incredibly slow?

Did you try using DVDFab to reset DMA?
If it doesn't work, you will have to uninstall those channels and restart.

Like I said in an earlier post my copy of "Diary of the Dead" works just fine on my DVD player but I just tried to play it on my laptop and the thing will not play not even the special features. I tried PowerDVD, Media Center, Windows player and the disc just stops after a couple of seconds. All I get are the coming attractions and menus. Now when I opened DVD Decrypter under Copy Protection System Type it said CSS/CPPM. Any Ideas as to how to get around this or should I just give up?

1.forget about using dvd decrypter on any new movie its an outdated program, hasn't been updated going on four years. and the new movies change copy protection weekly 2. just do the movie only cutting out the extras preveiws etc. 3. use good blank media like Tayio Yuden or Verbatim burning at 6x to 8x max4. the freeware has more of a learning curve than the payware so if you don't get it/understand how to use it use the payware. read this link below for info/options/guides etc. on how to backup you're DVDs

makes one wonder why they waste all this time and money trying new protections when they only have to perfect the "bad press" in order to stop piracy.
