Is this possible? and if it is.. how effective is it?

DVDshrink is amazing but I still have problems with my end results on DVD-R's. Maybe if I tried DVDdecrypter's ISO modes it could be more effective but I'm gonna have to use DVDshrink to make the movie fit a DVD5 disc.....

Just use Nero (as you must have it cos it's in your sig) to burn with...

As to your question - yes it is possible but would take longer to finish doing a back up w/ no extra video quality.
At the stage from Shrink VOB/BUP/IFO to making an ISO image of them files ... is NOT needed.

AutoshrinkIso will automate doing this with DVD Shrink, but as herbsman mentioned you should be able to do it with Nero. Personally I've never used it for DVDs as I was scared off by other people's problems with it when I first started backing up DVDs, but that seems to be caused mostly by incorrect procedures and occasionally a player that didn't like Nero 5.5.x DVDs. Since you didn't mention what the problems you're having are I can't really make any specific suggestions except that you should make sure you're using high quality media like Ritek G04s before you worry about the burning software since low quality media causes more problems than anything else.

If you're going to change burning programs, I'd recommend either upgrading to Nero 6 or going with something like RecordNow Max (which I use). In my experience, DVD Decryptor is generally reliable, but not as reliable as RecordNow (or Nero from what I've read/heard) and it takes a lot of extra time since you have to create an image. If you still want to try using Decryptor, You can find AutoshrinkISO with instructions here:
