I wasn't sure on how to describe this problem in the title so it may be off/confusing. The DVD's I copied aren't recognized by mpc or windows (and possible some other programs). When I put the DVD in my drive windows and mpc think it is a blank disc or the drive is empty, but my xbox360 and vlc can play it just fine. Does anyone have an idea of whats going on? It doesn't really bother me since I can play them, but they should be recognized by all DVD players so I was wondering whats going on.

What programs are you using to copy?

What programs are you burning with?

What speed are you burning at?

What brand disks are you using and are they +r/-r?

What error if any is coming up when you try to play the disks?

Need more info to help you out.

Well, I put the dvd's in again to get the exact wording of the error messages and everything worked fine. I don't know what happened but everything appears to be fine now. All I can really think of is that something didn't initialize properly on start-up that day (for some reason programs don't start up correctly all the time on my laptop). Thanks for you help though.

Depending on how much you burn, you may want to get an external burner for your laptop to save on its wear and tear. I already had a friend replace the dvd/rw in my laptop with another.

I never thought of that, thanks. I have a external burner, though it is fairly old and most of the time when I tried to use it the burning process would fail. Do you have any recommendations on what I should get if I was going to buy another?
