I'm a newbie too, so I don't know too much... but I think your problem might be (by your log) that your DMA is off.. Try right clicking on computer, go to properties, hardware tab, device manager, click IDE file, right click and uninstall your primary, secondary IDE channels/same with your DVD/CD-ROM drives, then reboot your computer and it will reinstall it back on.

Funny thing is, its an SATA drive, so I never wondered about DMA turned off. I'll look into it.

I do also use Verbatim, same problem with those. I'll look into the DMA disabled thing. Thanks a lot for your help.

One thing, though.. I remember from System Hardware, that both SATA controllers and IDE controllers appear - though I definately disabled ALL IDE controllers in BIOS.
Any thoughts?!

Just passing thru, MKM (Mitsubishi Kagaku Media) is Verbatim's parent company :)
..it appears to be a genuine Verbatim 6x DVD-RW disc.. my limited googling shows these particular discs to be approx 3yrs old..

MKM is highly genuine, so can't really be the issue here. Hmmm.... never seen Chinese/Japanese/Korean writing on Nero log before, that's a new one to me and it's rare.

Have you try to update your burner's firmware lately? If you haven't done so. Other than that, try other media and see if you'll get a successful burn next time.

Tried different media, turns out I can burn properly at 4 x speed. Anything above renders partially/completely unuseble.

Hmmm.... never seen Chinese/Japanese/Korean writing on Nero log before, that's a new one to me and it's rare.

Have you try to update your burner's firmware lately? If you haven't done so. Other than that, try other media and see if you'll get a successful burn next time.

Chinese seems to be an incompability between font types (copy/paste), nothing more.

Regarding firmware, theres no updates, mine is latest AFAIK.

UPDATE: Seems that all the probelems started, when I recently updated morhterboard chipset drivers (Nforce4 SLI) from NVidia homepage.

Tried un/installing several times, and as you might know, theres tonnes of hits on Google, telling about the stupid Nvidia SW-IDE drivers for the Nforce4 chipset.

I consider problem to be solved, when ever I find out how install the best chipset driver.
Any help in right direction will be appreciated. And thanks for your time so far.
