Well with just the Swap Magic CD or DVD you need to burn your backups using imgburn(it's free) on good quality media.

Sony DVD-R is good, Verbatim etc.

FMCB is installed to your mc and then is like a modchip.
You can select what apps you want installed to mc, and then launch them from your browser.
You can also launch them from usb drive if you wish.

ESR.elf is used to play backups that are patched with the ESR disc patcher.

Official Freevast forum is here
http://psx-scene.com/forums/freevast/

The installation tutorial you need is here
http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/

You would use the first one - User Guides for Free McBoot
English Guide for 1.7

And also this one - Booting Installer using Swapmagic (3.6 or 3.8 Coder)

Some pictures and help here - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/18/291684#4212568

When installing fmcb make sure to thoroughly read the tutorials straight through, don't skip anything.

If you have more questions, let me know.

hey thanks. i have fmcb on my ps2 now.

Is ESR something i need on my ps2 in order for burned games to work? or is that like just a patch?

i patched some games succesfully using ESR disc patcher but i either get a black screen or "please insert a Playstation or Playstation format disc"

Ok if you have patched the games with Esr Disc patcher, then just copy ESR beta r9b dvdv direct.elf to your BOOT folder on the mc, using ulaunch.elf.

First rename it too ESR.ELF, then copy it too BOOT folder on mc0

Just recheck the tutorial if it doesn't work to make sure you have it configured to launch ESR.ELF in the fmcb configurator.

Ok so you now have ESR.ELF in BOOT folder on mc.

You may now have to start your fmcb configurator and make sure the ESR BOOT path is correct, then save the configuration

my ps2 is one of the newer ones. do you think that might be the problem which is stopping me from being able to play burned games correctly?

Ok that could be, I didn't know you had a Model SCPH-9000X

All the SCPH 9000x who had the Date Code 8b FMCB could be launched on, the other ones who had 8c FMCB is not working.

The Date Code is to the right of the Serial Number.

You can use your Swap Magic to play backups then can't you. They will play the disc even if it is patched with ESR Patcher.

it is SCPH-79001 and it has a little "a" after the 1.

I didn't see no 8b or 8c.

and i am really limited on using swap magic since i only have the cd version. I don't have the DVD. my friends brother doesn't want to give it to me.or something. sorry.

by the way i got fmcb to work its just running the games that i have a problem with.

when i would turn on the ps2 i could see the fmcb logo.

or something

Ok well that model PS2 fmcb and ESR.ELF work fine.

Does it look like this when your fmcb 1.7 loads on the PS2

Do you use Imgburn to burn your backups. What type of media did you burn them too and what speed.

Sorry no I don't use instant messengers.
But what it sounds like to me is your trying to Play PAL games on an NTSC PS2.
If so then you will need to patch those ISO also with PAL to NTSC changer.
I usually just use ADR Patcher 0.5

so basically you are saying that all i need to do is patch these games with ADR patcher 0.5 with the patch "UNDO PS2 PAL -> NTSC PATCH ROUTINE (NO Y POS)" and burn the game and it will probably work?

or what patch do i use and once i have the file selected in ADR patcher which button do i hit to activate the patch?

That probably wouldn't hurt anything if you did.

If its still not loading your backup, perhaps try some other backups.

That could be also. I don't know much about that setup.

Is it possible for you too hook up the PS2 to a TV and see then if it works.

all i got on my screen is

-=< Free McBoot >=-

>> Browser <<
System Configuration
Free McBoot Configurator

-=< Version 1.7 >=-
xEnter /\Version

Ok just a tip in the future if installing again.

You need to download the apps you want to use with fmcb 1.7 and put them in the usb device like this before you install it

These files are placed inside the INSTALL folders ROOT on the USB device.
Then once installed they will appear on the mc like in the picture in the Sony Browser.
