Ok, I converted Hot Rod PAl to NTSC with IFOEDIT and everything went great! Now I have a question when I get a new DVD player that supports PAL + NTSC will the Converted PAl to NTSC DVDR work?

Also, I have some menu button problems. When I try choosing something in the menu's the highlighted thing that shows you what you are choosing doesn't appear. How can I fix this? Other than that everything works except the subtitles are a bit off the screen but that isn't a big problem.

The converted disk should play in an NTSC+PAL standalone - it does in mine.
The menu problem with the highlight not lining up with the button on screen is noticeable on my 4:3 CRT TV, but not on my widescreen sets.
I haven't investigated it, because it's not a priority concern for me.

Note that the 4:3 set is connected to a Toshiba player - it might be the player and not the TV causing that problem.
The W/S sets are connected to Panasonic and RCA players.

The quick ways to convert the disk from PAL to NTSC are using Vobblanker or Ifoedit.
Sometimes Vobblanker misses a PAL setting and might not play in a particular standalone unit.

Other disks I find that if the 'VIDEO_TS.VOB' (FBI warning) file is not removed it won't play.

It all seems to be more voodoo than science.

On Widescreens is the subtitles problem also fixed? The DVDR's I've converted don't have any FBI warning's on the VIDEO_TS.VOB but there is a menu where you choose the menu language, how can I delete this? I think it's annoying, but it does work with that on my DVD Player.

The subtitles appear ok on the WS.
Ignore the colour pattern on this pic of the TV - only the camera sees this.
I wouldn't try to remove an actual menu item in case it destroys the whole menu - in any case I don't know enough about the subject to mess with them.
Note that my mention of VIDEO_TS.VOB was not to imply that it could be removed with impunity.
Some times it contains both menus and warnings.

Great! So I don't have to worry about the menu's + subtitles having difficulties, thank you for posting the image.

Where you mentioned that some discs didn't work with the FBI Warnings, how did you solve that?

Loaded the original ripped files into DVD Shrink.
Selected 'Re-author'.
The net result is that it removes everything except the main title (no menus, no extras - you still have your choice of audio and subpicture streams).
Saved it to a folder then used that as the source for Ifoedit/Vobblanker.

I should emphasize that this problem only showed up on one Toshiba player and I normally wouldn't use DVD Shrink to reauthor - I only wanted to see if I could get it to play on the machine - my other players accept the disks without complaint - some people cannot get this conversion to work period. It seems to be the luck of the draw
