Converting two PAL DVDs to NTSC DVDs

Shortly I'll be receiving two documentary DVDs that are in PAL format. Having reached a certain age (ahem! - I'll be 80 in January) the thought of trying to use all the programs I see spoken of and offered that enable the user to do such a conversion leaves my grey head spinning. If someone out there has successfully done what I want done, would he/she please drop me a note off-line?
