First VOB segment always jumpy

I am using DVD Decrypter to decrypt DVD to HD. I have tried several DVDs. Each time the first actual movie VOB (i.e. not title) comes out "jiggy". There are second or two loop backs every few seconds. The other VOBs copied are fine. I have the same choppiness problem when I use VOBedit on the original 1st VOB on DVD and watch it in preview. When I play the whole DVD, the first segment is fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
End goal is that I want to clip certain parts out of DVD, then re-author it. My process works fine except for the first segment (roughly 1/4) of the movie.

Problem persists. Downloaded Downloaded DVDFAB HD Decrypter 5.1.1.8 Betaand had it decrypt dvd. Again, first segment is messed up, segments 2-4 are fine. Would consider DVD to be the issue, but have had same problem with last three DVDs I've tried. The DVD plays fine, but the first vob (VTS_01_1) won't copy to harddrive in a usable fashion. It would seem to be a decryption issue, since it plays fine, but won't copy correctly. Also, should be noted that all three DVDs are probably made by same company.

Looking further, it seems that the three DVDs that didn't copy first VOB correctly were all Funimation disks. Anyone know if Funimation is using some unusual encryption?

Maybe the problem is in the editing and reauthoring process or software and not the original (or ripped) DVD itself. Before editing view the first vob with VLC to see if it's "jiggly".

I will check, but you seem to be missing the point that the first VOB behaves differently than the other 3, even though I have processed them the same way. Also, the messiness occurs before I edit. It occurs after all I've done is ripped all four VOBs from the disk. One bad, three good. Happens with each Funimation disk, but not with other disks.

Okay, Peshtigo is king. VLC plays the otherwise seemingly corrupted file just fine...now to get it to render it so that when I author the VOB it is also okay.

VLC plays the VOB fine, but, when I use VLC to make the VOB an Mpeg-2 the errors are back for other players. I am a novice at this, but any thoughts on why? Clearly, the 1st VOB from each of these Funimation disks is different than the others. Whatever the difference is, that difference is overcome by VLC, but not removed when VLC converts it. I realize I may have to change strategy on how I edit and re-author. I welcome input on either "fixing" the 1st VOB problem or new strategy on editing and re-authoring. In advance, thank you.

I have never used Vobedit so I can't offer any advice how to proceed with correcting your problem. I do a fair amount of DVD editing/reauthoring and have used many paid programs with varying degrees of satisfaction. My personal favorite all time (I don't see me switching again) is TEMPEnc DVD Author 3 which just updated and is now called TEMPEnc Authoring Works 4. Ease of use and quality of output can't be beat by the others (many) I've used and abandoned. It's kind of pricey ($99.00) if you are just an occasional dabbler in DVD editing, but worth the money for more serious users.

Sorry, Peshtigo, Attar receives my new nomination for king. That did it. Using IFO mode from DVD Decrypter, I selected only the first angle and it copied the VOB cleanly. So much to learn....
